New Roots Herbal Acetyl-L-Carnitine provides the biologically active form of carnitine, an amino acid derivative involved in cellular energy production.
Acetyl-L-carnitine plays an important role in transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are used to generate metabolic energy. Healthy levels may help support energy metabolism, endurance, and cognitive function.
This formula is also used for the relief of pain associated with diabetic neuropathy. Convenient capsule dosing allows intake to be adjusted according to individual needs and practitioner guidance.
Ingredients
Each vegetable capsule contains:
- Acetyl carnitine hydrochloride, providing 637.5 mg of acetyl-L-carnitine — 750 mg
Other ingredients: Vegetable magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide in a non-GMO vegetable capsule composed of vegetable carbohydrate gum and purified water.
Suggested Use
Adults — For relief of pain associated with diabetic neuropathy: Take 1 capsule four times daily or as directed by your health-care practitioner. Take with food. Do not exceed 4 capsules in a 24-hour period.
All other uses: Take 1 capsule two or three times daily. Start with 1 capsule twice daily with food, and gradually increase to 1 capsule three times daily with food or as directed by your health-care practitioner. Do not exceed 3 capsules in a 24-hour period.
Duration of use: Consult a health-care practitioner for use beyond 6 months.
Cautions & Warnings
- Consult a health-care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- This product provides at least 2.25 g of acetyl-L-carnitine hydrochloride. Consult a health-care practitioner before use if you have liver or kidney disease or if you have been instructed to follow a low-protein diet.
- Mild gastrointestinal symptoms such as transient nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea have been reported.
- Low incidences of seizures have been reported with oral doses in individuals with or without preexisting seizure disorders.
- Do not use if you have primary systemic L-carnitine deficiency or secondary L-carnitine deficiency (inborn errors in metabolism) for which levocarnitine supplementation is prescribed and/or monitored by a health-care practitioner.
